And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” 1 Peter 4:8

Focus on Christ

What are you willing to do for those you deeply love?

Real love will always come to others’ aid, but not at the expense of ignoring their sin.

Christ never excuses your sin, but He so loved you that he died for your sin. 

Why would anyone die for an awful, mean, guilty sinner? Christ covered your sin with His Love.

Christ accepted you because of His Love, but had to die to pay the price for covering your sin.

Focus on Self

Self love condemns others of their faults. Self does not persevere, overlook, or endure. True love from God leads you to care and comfort as well as correct. This love has the best intentions for the guilty friend, but will not ignore the need to deal with the sin.
